Our carefully selected menu paves the way for a fusion of Bangladeshi flavours, produced with a combination of South Asian and Western methods.
Our ingredients (including meat, fish and poultry) are carefully and locally sourced. We make sure we maintain the true Bangladeshi taste, it’s why our spices and chillies are sourced directly from the continent.
We’re in Lichfield — a cathedral city since 1553, and civil parish in Staffordshire. It’s one of eight civil parishes with city status in England.
Lichfield is well known for its 3 spire cathedral, and the first authoritative Dictionary of English Language was written here.
The story behind the name
Nowka, also spelt as Nouka and in Bengali as বাইচ. It is the traditional dragon boat of Bangladesh. Commonly used for traditional boat racing in Bangladesh; it is also the most common boat race in the UK, with the race being held locally in Edgbaston, Birmingham, annually.
The ’71’ refers to 1971. When the Bangladesh Liberation War was won and Bangladesh gained it’s Independence from Pakistan.

Most notable for its three-spired medieval cathedral. Lichfield was the birthplace of Samuel Johnson, the writer of the first authoritative Dictionary of the English Language. Lichfield is also one of 8 civil parishes with city status in England.
